Exterior

The front of the new BMW 7 Series has been developed specifically for BMWs luxury models enabling a clear differentiation from the brand’s other models. This design includes the combination of the illuminated BMW kidney grille and two-piece split headlight units. As standard, the 7 Series comes with Adaptive LED Headlights including cornering light, plus Matric high beam and the new BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling high beam assistant.

Interior

The BMW has grown in both length, width and height, its wheelbase is now 5mm longer which further enhances seating comfort in the rear. The headroom of the interior has also been noticeably improved.

The cockpit also has a new driver-focused cockpit design. Digitalisation has enabled the number of buttons, switches and controls in the cockpit to be significantly reduced and replaced with the BMW Curved Display and BMW Interaction Bar. The BMW Curved Display is a 12.3-inch display behind the steering wheel and a control display with a screen diagonal of 14.9-inches. Beneath a shared glass surface, the displays are directed ergonomically towards the driver making the touch control even more straightforward. The BMW Interaction Bar makes its debut as a new kind of control/operation and design element. The unit which has a crystalline surface structure and backlighting extends from below the trim strip across the full width of the instrument panel and into the door panel. It houses touch-sensitive control panels for adjusting ventilation and climate control, activating the hazard warning lights and opening the glow compartment. It combines function control, ambient lighting and the ability to adjust its decorative appearance as desired into one fully integrated component. Entry into and exit from the car are accompanied by a welcome/goodbye production incorporating lights on the BMW Interaction Bar. And it also shows the driver and front passenger via the Safe Exit function when it is safe to get out. From the ambient lighting menu, the driver can decide which events the BMW Interaction Bar reacts to with dynamic light animations, e.g. incoming phone calls. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant can also appear on the BMW Interaction Bar in an artistic glow.

The BMW 7 Series has newly developed comfort seats as standard, they offer a wider seat surface as well as extensive electric adjustment, seat heating and lumbar support for the driver and front passenger. The optional Front Comfort Pack further enhances the luxurious experience for front-seat occupants, integrating active seat ventilation with optimised cooling and a massage function with nine programs which provides for a noticeably increased vitalising and relaxation effect.

The Executive Lounge options which is a part of the Executive Pack bring incredible seating comfort to the rear. It include a reclining function with leg rest in the space behind the front passenger seat plus an optional quilted and heated armrest with high-quality glass insert and integrated smartphone tray for inductive charging. Coordinated adjustment of the backrest angle and backrest upper section angle, forward/back position and seat surface tilt enables an extremely comfortable reclining position.

Perhaps the standout feature of the 7 Series is the optional 31.3-inch 8K ‘BMW Theatre Screen’ that drops down from the car’s ceiling. As the screen moves into position the sun blinds for the side windows, rear window and panoramic glass sunroof are close and the ambient lighting in the rear is dimmed. Rear passengers can stream videos, play games, listen to music and watch downloaded programmes.
