All-New Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe

Mercedes has revealed the all-new second generation of the AMG GT Coupe, the new car is bigger (180mm longer and 40mm wider) and better than before.

The AMG GT is being launched with a choice of twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engines, each paired with a nine-speed dual-clutch gearbox and four-wheel drive. The AMG GT 63 4MATIC delivers 577 bhp and provides a maximum torque of 800 Nm and accelerated from 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds. The AMG GT 55 delivers 469 bhp and a maximum torque of 700Nm and 0-62 mph takes 3.9 seconds. The new coupe can be driven in a continuously variable manner from traction-oriented all-wheel drive with 50:50 power distribution to the front and rear axles to pure rear-wheel drive.

The body is aluminium but has steel, magnesium and carbon fibre composite woven in for maximum rigidity at the minimum weight.

The expanded dimensions offer the option of 2+2 seats allowing increased functionality for everyday use and are suitable for people up to 1.5 meters tall Mercedes claims. At the centre is an 11.9-inch portrait multimedia touchscreen running Mercedes’ MBUX system. There are typical creature comforts like ambient lightning, massage seats and heated steering but also track day matter like torque, acceleration and tyre pressure data as well as sports seats that inflate their bolsters for added support in Sport Sport+ and Race modes.
